Major Function: Support the Assembly Process and Purchasing Team by driving the development of a part certification program and supplier quality measures. Develop, plan, and implement prevention-based quality controls to reduce purchase part variations and defects. Manage the quality system for incoming material conformance and non-conforming material disposition. Assist in creating and managing a corrective action system to foster a quality culture and enhance customer satisfaction.

Vendor Quality Management and Supplier Corrective Action:

  • Develop and implement processes to define, manage, and enhance vendor quality.

  • Establish quality measures and goals for purchased parts or products, communicating regularly with suppliers and commodity managers for continuous improvement.

  • Manage the part certification process to reduce inspection costs and lead time, instructing commodity managers and suppliers as necessary.

  • Coordinate with various stakeholders to address purchased part quality issues, ensuring follow-up and containment.

  • Provide early warning reports on new purchased part or product issues and coordinate with relevant teams for awareness and action.

Metrology System Maintenance and Supplier Audits:

  • Maintain and improve the facility's metrology system.

  • Coordinate with process engineers on quality gauges or tools for the assembly process.

  • Conduct regular visits to suppliers and assist in conducting supplier audits with commodity managers.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial, electrical engineering, or similar field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of quality engineering or reliability engineering experience.

  • Bonus experience in metal parts & plastic process fabrication and electronic components (sensors, video cameras, digital services) preferred.

Knowledge & Personal Attributes:

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, plastics, metal parts, and electronic components.

  • Proficiency in quality analysis tools such as 5D, SPC, PFMEA, etc.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to teach basic problem-solving techniques.

  • Experience in developing part certification processes and vendor quality measures.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and team skills.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Self-motivated with a high level of initiative.

  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and customer interface skills.

  • Willingness to travel 25-30%.
