Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with analysts, scientists, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions
  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ELT processes
  • Optimize pipeline performance and ensure data quality, reliability, and availability
  • Design and maintain reference data tables according to standards
  • Implement data governance, security, and privacy policies
  • Monitor and troubleshoot pipeline performance and issues
  • Write clear and meaningful code documentation

Essential Requirements:

  • Data Engineering: Ability to create robust and efficient SQL pipelines to curate data from complex sources
  • Business Analysis: Proficiency in analysing complex digital systems through stakeholder engagement and SQL data analysis
  • Team Player: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team

Desirable Requirements:

  • Reference Data Integration: Ability to integrate disparate data assets using reference data
  • Performance Tuning: Experience in maintaining optimal execution performance of complex data pipelines
  • Familiarity with Australia's biosecurity and exports systems
